The most affordable seaside homes in Scotland
The West is the ideal region for home buyers seeking a deal on a beachfront property since, according to data from the Bank of Scotland, prices rose by 11% in 2022, faster than the average rate of growth in Britain.
The typical cost of a Scottish coastal house is about £182,488.
However, Greenock has the lowest average price of about £97,608, making it the best option for people seeking sea views without the high cost.
It was the only place with an average cost below six figures, with Girvan in Ayrshire coming in second at £105,410.
"It's undeniable that much of Scotland's coastline is truly breathtaking, and it's easy to see why the pretty seaside town of North Berwick is still Scotland's most expensive seaside location for house hunters." said Mortgages director at Bank of Scotland, Graham Blair.
"However, many of Scotland's coastal towns have much lower average house prices.
"While many things can influence the price of a home, socio-economic factors are perhaps playing a greater role in some coastal locations.
"While there are doubtless many property hot spots, a sea view isn't necessarily supporting house prices in Scottish towns most in need of investment."
