The Scottish property market continues to buck wider UK housing market trends again this month as ESPC reports an increase in properties brought to market and the average selling price of homes across east-central Scotland compared to last year.
Six residential apartments were shut down by Edinburgh City Council due to complaints from neighbours and residents, ranging from excessive noise and smashed bottles to underwear being thrown out of the windows.
Owners of empty houses in Edinburgh will be forced to either occupy their property or sell it as the City Council takes a more hands-on approach to tackle the city’s housing crisis. The council will use Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) to ensure that property which is not being used can get back on the market.
The Granite City’s commercial property sale figures managed to beat both Glasgow and Edinburgh from April to June (Q2) according to the Scottish Property Federation (SPF), marking Aberdeen’s second consecutive quarter at the top of the commercial property leaderboard. The SPF’s report highlighted Aberdeen’s total sales value as £123 million which, although was 26% down on Aberdeen’s Q1 2018 figures, was 68% higher than the same quarter in 2017.
